Mountain Home Fire Department hosts others from around the state at Fire Academy

Wednesday, September 26, 2018
Last week fire departments from around the state came to town for the Mountain Home Fire Academy. The training was geared towards situations that small rural volunteer departments have to deal with including the wildfire/urban interface and the lack of resources that can sometimes happen in small areas with an all volunteer force.

In 2006 the Mountain Home Fire Department hosted the first Idaho Volunteer Fire Emergency Services Association training. For the last several years the conference has been held in Donnelly, ID, but the small town decided to opt out of holding it in 2018. That’s when Chief Mark Moore decided to put in a request to bring it back to Mountain Home and the department set about putting together a weekend that the departments would be excited to attend.

Sept. 21 through Sept. 23 the MHFD held the Mountain Home Fire Academy which hosted 133 students from fire agencies as far away as Moscow, ID. For the full story, pick up a copy of the Mountain Home News or click on this link to subscribe to the newspaper's online edition.
