American Solar Challenge Stops in Mountain Home

The American Solar Challenge has been running every two years since 1987. The goal of the challenge is to complete a predetermined route in the lowest overall elapsed time. On July 20 teams stopped for their seventh checkpoint on the journey.

The solar cars and their teams must pass inspections and a qualifier known as the Formula Sun Grand Prix before they are chosen to participate in the roughly 1,700 mile journey which travels along portions of the Oregon Trail.
