Goodbyes are never easy

Mountain Home Police Chief Nick Schilz's last day on the job will be on July 20 after 37 years of service in law enforcement in Elmore County

After seven years at the helm Mountain Home Police Chief Nick Schilz has decided to retire.

With eleven grandchildren spread over four western states it is time for Chief Schilz and his wife to focus on being grandparents and do some traveling.

When you work in law enforcement you do not get to spend a lot of time doing the family thing and with the grandchildren getting to the age where they have become very active and involved in sports and other extracurricular activities Chief Schilz was not able to watch or cheer them on as much as he would have liked to previously.
