Douglas Lee Hoston, Sr.

Douglas Lee Hoston, Sr. passed away on June 26, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Douglas was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Harold E. Hoston, Sr. and Mary Alice Dais Hoston. He married the former Cynthia Ann Stiggers. They had three beautiful children, Douglas, Jr., Melia, and Joshua. He was the proud grandfather of two grandsons and three granddaughters.

Douglas graduated from Gladstone High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In November 1974 he entered the U.S.A.F. After 24 years of service he retired from active duty as a Senior Non –Commissioned Officer at Mountain Home AFB. During his tenure in the Air Force he traveled to the Middle East, the Far East, the European Theaters, and numerous stations with in the continental United States. While in the Air Force he was awarded numerous decorations and medals. Also, he received a degree in Aero Space Technology.

After retirement he received a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology, graduating with honors. Afterwards he worked for Micron Technology in Boise, until retirement.

Douglas was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) group and the American Legion. He was a PHA Mason. His home lodge was Sabre Lodge No. 7 of the Jurisdiction of Oregon, Idaho, and Montana Inc. (PHA) He served as a Past Master in his home lodge and a District Deputy Grand Master in his Grand Lodge. In May 2013 he obtained the 33rd and Last Degree of A.A.S.R. (PHA). He was a member of the United Supreme Council N.J of the U.S.A.

Douglas was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Hardy West and Ronald D. Hoston.

Services will be held at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mtn Home. Viewing will be held from 5:00PM to 7:00PM, on Friday, July 6, 2018. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at the Idaho State Veteran’s Cemetery in Boise on Monday, July 9, 2018, at 1:00 PM.
