Marie Putnam

Marie Putnam passed away peacefully at home in Bend, Oregon surrounded by family and friends on April 1, 2018.

She was born Aug. 29, 1931, in Fall River, Massachusetts, the first child of George and Exilia (Labrecque) Kneisel. She married Johnny R. Putnam October 14, 1950 who preceded her in death in 1983. Marie was a devote Christian who loved being a homemaker and caring for her husband and children.

Marie believed in giving back to her community and was a dedicated volunteer for Family Services at Mountain Home Air Force Base, the Girl Scouts of America and the Veterans Hospital in Boise, Idaho. She was also a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Marie enjoyed traveling all over the United States with her husband during his long military career and making new friends wherever she went.

Marie was a longtime resident of Mountain Home, Idaho until moving to Oregon to be with family, first in Happy Valley and most recently in Bend.

Survivors include four daughters: Wanda McBade, Debra Mayer (husband David), Patty Hopper, and Kathy Shrode; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; a brother, Charles Kneisel and a sister, Georgette Vetroczky.

Marie was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and devoted friend to all who knew her.

On April 20 there will be a Celebration of Life service at 10 a.m. at Town Center Village Retirement Community in Happy Valley, Oregon, followed by a Memorial Service at Christ the King Catholic Church in Milwaukie, Oregon at 2:30 p.m.

A graveside service will be conducted at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home, ID on May 5 at 10 a.m.
