St. Luke's Elmore makes more improvements:How will patients be effected during construction?

Wednesday, April 11, 2018

After completing its new emergency department, St. Luke's Elmore has begun construction on its next project: a new labor and delivery unit.

"It started beginning of March, but we've been thinking about it for awhile," said Mike Blauer, administrator at St. Luke's Elmore.

The current labor and delivery unit was small and confined, with only two dedicated labor and delivery rooms jammed in with regular patient rooms. Nurses were working harder to provide care to the community, helping to deliver an average of 12 babies per month in 2017 (three times more than in 2015). The new labor and delivery unit is being built where the old emergency department was, and should be available for patients this fall.
