History: WWII Bomber crashes in local field

In May of 1943, the United States of America was fully engaged in the Pacific Campaign against Japan, had just begun the battle for North Africa and would soon invade Italy before finally engaging the Germans on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day while here in Idaho an invasion by the military of another variety was also taking place.

As the United States began to realize that choosing a side in World War II was inevitable, the government instituted the first peace time draft in the history of the country with the passing of the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940 on September 16, 1940 and military activity picked up in every state and territory in the nation.
