James T. "Jim" Carter

James T. ”Jim” Carter, Jr. 61 of Benson, AZ passed away March 1, 2018 in Las Vegas, NV while attending one of his favorite events, Nascar. Jim was born Feb. 12, 1957 in Landstuhl Germany to James T. Sr and Donna M (Blake) Carter while his dad was serving in the Air Force.

Jim grew up in Mountain Home ID where he was deeply involved in sports and rodeo. In 1983 he moved to Kodiak, AK to continue his work as an electrician. While there he met the love of his life Teresa (TC) Barnes. They were married in 1985. Jim and TC moved several times with Jim’s job. In the several locations Jim was a mentor to many young men becoming electricians. He was still in touch with many up until his death.

After his retirement Jim and TC travelled the country following the Nascar races. They were also able to visit extended family in TN were Jim had very strong family roots. Jim also loved his Harley Davidson and rode whenever he could. Jim enjoyed travelling to Alaska where he would fish with his brother in law Bruce and did so often.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Teresa (TC) of Benson, son Joshua (Tanya) Carter of Spokane, WA, daughters Melissa Carter and Jessica (Danny) McGee of Haughton, LA, his son Robert Carter of Anchorage, AK and their families. He is also survived by his sister Penny Scott of Boise, ID and sister in law Cheryl (Bruce) McNeil of Kodiak, AK and their families. Jim also left behind his bulldog Jolene who was his constant companion. He is also survived by extended family and friends that were like family to him.

Jim was proceeded in death by his parents and his in laws.

A celebration of life was held in Benson, AZ on March 7 where family and friends honored him by wearing their Harley Davidson gear.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer that you give donations to your local youth sports organizations as Jim loved playing and coaching during his lifetime.
