The Elmore County Commissioners met on Feb. 16 to hear updates from department heads. Things are running smoothly throughout the county and it was a short meeting.

Bill Richey is the Governor's Special Assistant for Military Affair's and updated the commissioners on the planning for the upcoming Gunfighter Skies Air Show. Excitement is mounting for the show which has numerous events including a performance of "Tora Tora Tora" a reenactment of Pearl Harbor.

Richey also updated the commissioners about the ongoing process of Mountain Home receiving the rail spur from Mountain Home Air Force Base. MHAFB is moving the conveyance along and one of the next steps is the Environmental Impact Study which could take a couple of years to complete.

Deb Ireland from the Elmore County Landfill informed the commissioners about the amount of tonnage being brought into the transfer station on Bennett Road.

Another tonnage amount she gave to the commissioners was the amount of trash workers have been out picking up on rural roads due to all of the illegal dumping done in the county.
