Naive but not discouraged: ...and looking forward to 2018

Wednesday, December 27, 2017

Last week, I took some time to reflect on the past and thank all of the readers, subscribers and those who just share ideas with the Mountain Home News. This week, I want to pivot and look at what 2018 has to offer.

While I don't know what 2018 will hold, I am very excited for the possibilities. It's one of those moments where you know you're on the verge of something great, you can almost taste it, but you have no idea what it is.

I do have high hopes for this next year.

I'm hoping to continue working for the Mountain Home News while expanding on some other subjects I enjoy, such as art and sewing (we all remember my first debacle with a sewing machine).

At some point I would love to have my own cat or dog, or at least find a place that allows pets other than a fish.

I also plan on making the very long drive to visit family in Northern Idaho. Part of me wishes I could jump into my car and see them right now, but that trip will have to wait until the warmer months.

At the end of the day, though, the only thing I want to accomplish in 2018 is happiness.

I want to find something, whether it's my job or a hobby, that makes me incredibly happy. Not just happy enough to put a smile on my face, but something that makes me beam with pride at what I've accomplished or overflow with joy at the opportunity to participate in said activity/task. That's my goal for next year.

That's my resolution.
