Rail lease brings a slew of new possibilities to Mountain Home

An effort that began in the 1990s, the lease between the Department of Defense and the City of Mountain Home for a parcel of rail currently owned by the U.S. Air Force has been finalized.

While the lease is just a temporary solution, city officials are overjoyed to have accomplished this hurdle.

"This has been a team effort ever since I became mayor," said Mayor Rich Sykes.

    So according to the article in the paper, the City spent 20 years, doubt that, trying to obtain use of the rail while many business in town went belly up. Here is a thought, spend some of that effort on bringing in businesses to downtown. The old Hub Clothing building has been empty for years and now Charlie's Place is closing. What the heck is the Economic Development Office doing for downtown? To me seems nothing.
