Margaret Catherine Cronin Cox, “Maggie”, of Mountain Home, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 13, 2017. She was 94 years old.

A viewing will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Maggie was born in Minden, Nebraska on September 3, 1922 to William and Susan Burke Cronin. She graduated in 1939 at the beautiful brand new Minden High School, home of the Whippets.

Maggie met Marcus Arilious Cox, V. of Ferrelview, Missouri, at a dance in Kearney, Nebraska the spring of 1943. Her father required her to be 21 years of age before marriage, so they wed on September 4, 1943, the day after Maggie’s 21st birthday.

As a devoted military wife, Maggie left the comforts of her family and lived all over the USA and other countries. The places lived included: Nebraska, Missouri, Virginia, Kansas, California, North Dakota, Idaho, France and Taiwan.

Maggie worked at First Interstate Bank in Mountain Home, in the 1950’s, Rod and Gun Club at the Evreux-Fauville Air Base, France, taught English to students in Taiwan and worked as an administrator at the Mountain Home Irrigation District. She was active at her Parrish, Our Lady of Good Counsel, taught two decades of catechism, a member of the Sodality Group and a member of the Elkettes. She was famous for her cinnamon rolls, sugar cookies and Lemon cakes.

She actively traveled back and forth between San Antonio and Portland to visit her children and granddaughters.

Maggie is survived by her son Marcus Arilious Cox, VI of Garden Ridge, Texas, and his wife Annette Rosko Cox, her daughter Mary Cox O’Day of Camas, Washington and her husband Patrick O’Day, two granddaughters Lara Cox Schoenenberger of New Braunfels, Texas and her husband Douglas Schoenenberger, and Erin O’Day of Camus, Washington, two great-granddaughters Amy and Sara Schoenenberger. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and very close friends to include special friend Michelle Hible. She was preceded death by her husband of 54 years, Marcus, her parents William and Susan Burke Cronin of Nebraska, four brothers, Bill, Jack and Leo of Nebraska and Thomas (Pete) of New Hampshire, and one sister Cleo Walsh of Colorado.
