Rural area schools selected for federal grant program

Schools in the Glenns Ferry and Bruneau and Grand View school districts will receive thousands of dollars in grant support through a federal program that helps purchase fresh fruit and vegetables for their students.

Glenns Ferry elementary and middle schools and Grand View Elementary School were among 113 elementary schools across the state that received funding through the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program grant program.

Focusing on increasing students' consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables will positively impact student health and will ultimately support overall student wellness, according to state education officials.
