County continues debate over IWS ownership issue

Wednesday, July 26, 2017

A landfill in western Elmore County that caught fire twice in the past two years and led to legal troubles with the county could end up changing hands, according to information presented to the Elmore County commissioners as they met July 14.

Rachel Kline and David Fischer with Republic Services visited the commissioners concerning their interest in buying Idaho Waste Systems from owner Jack Yarborough.

Until all of the legal issues surrounding Yarborough's management of the landfill are cleared up, Republic Services plans to withhold its bid for the facility. However, both representatives reassured the county commissioners the sale will likely go through once those issues are resolved.
