Local crimes increase, total arrests decrease

Thursday, July 20, 2017

The crime rate in Mountain Home and Elmore County increased during the previous year although there were fewer people arrested in connection with these reported crimes, according to a yearly report from the Idaho State Police.

Released earlier this month, the report includes a synopsis of crime statistics gathered from 108 law enforcement agencies across the state and includes data from the Mountain Home Police Department and Elmore County Sheriff's Department.

According to the state-level report, there were 1,033 total criminal offenses reported across the county last year, which represented a nearly 9 percent increase compared to 2015. At the same time, however, the number of actual arrests in those combined statistics actually fell by more than 15 percent when compared to statistics from the previous year.
