Bennett Mountain High School holds commencement

Thursday, June 1, 2017
Nathan Dietrict and others representing Bennett Mountain High School's Class of 2017 are greeted by a standing crowd as "Pomp and Circumstance" plays.

Bennett Mountain High School saw another senior class pass through its halls as these teens stepped into adulthood Thursday night when 39 of them moved their tassels to the left, symbolizing their move from student to graduate.

The evening was full of gratuity toward the teachers and families who supported these teens through their rough teenage years and difficulties on their academic journey.

"If anyone wants to know the true reason for our success, the answer is simple... it's because of the Bennett Mountain staff... and because of the skills you provided and the patients you have shown to us," said Mekala Abbot, who spoke on behalf of her fellow students.

School board trustee Frank Monasterio congratulates Kai Corbett as the student receives his diploma during Thursday's commencement ceremony in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.
