Sunday, May 28, 2017

The number of adults and children in the state facing a lack of food or going hungry fell slightly over a 12-month period with Elmore County seeing similar results, according to a study published earlier this month.

The annual study released by Feeding America showed that the state's food insecurity rate dropped to 14 percent of the total population, or 232,180 people, compared to the previous year when 241,080 people in the state fell into this category.

The Map the Meal Gap study is based on data from 2015 and provides food insecurity rates at state and county level as well as the family budget shortfalls for food-insecure Idahoans.
