Mountain flooding prompts closure of South Fork area

Saturday, May 27, 2017
Rising flood water has caused widespread damage across the northern areas of Elmore County, including the communities of Pine and Featherville.

In an announcement Monday, officials with the Boise National Forest announced that additional roads and trails and campgrounds in the Mountain Home Ranger District remain closed due to flooding that's leading to road failures and putting the public safety at risk.

The Mountain Home Ranger District temporarily closed areas along the South Fork Boise River Area west of Anderson Ranch Reservoir.

Included in the closure order is the entire area between National Forest System Road 121 and the high water mark of the South Fork. This includes all access roads, trails and associated camp sites. Those roads and camp grounds are 121D and D1, 121G, 121H, 121I, 121J, 121K, 121L, 121M, 121N, 121O, 121P, 121Q, 121R, 121S, 121T, 121U and 164A, 165C and 165C1.
