People avoided serious injury after an Idaho Transportation Department vehicle tore down a power line and triggered a crash on Airbase Road on May 9.

State highway road crews were working on patching the westbound lane when the top of a raised asphalt truck bed caught power lines crossing the road around 11:30 a.m.

The truck continued down the road, pulling with it the power lines and a transformer attached to a power pole. The pole and transformer then ripped free, landing on the windshield of a Subaru sport utility vehicle traveling eastbound toward town.
