Francis Elizabeth Diskey went home to be with our Lord on May 2, 2017. Francis was born Jan. 21, 1934, in Juniata, Pa. She was an independent person her whole life, leaving home as a young adult and making her own way in the world at a fairly young age.

She married Thomas Stoy and had a beloved son, Thomas Thornsberry (Donna Thornsberry), who preceeded her in death. Later, she married Delmer Thornsberry and had another son, Stephan Thornsberry (Colletta Thornsberry).

Francis loved her sons beyond measure, and her life was happiest when spending time with her sons. She also had an amazing career, starting as a licensed practical nurse and continuing her education until she became a registered nurse, even teaching nursing students at one time.

Her work love, however, was working in the emergency rooms. She lived and worked in hospitals in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Florida and Idaho.

She loved to travel and spent many days on the road either with friends and family or even all alone. She went all the way across the united states even into her 70s.

She also ventured to Germany twice to see her son, his wife and her three granddaughters while her son was stationed there. These trips were taken with her true love in life, Gene Shuler. Although they never married, her heart was his 'till death.

Francis is survived by her son Steve in Twin Falls, Idaho; her sister, Patricia in Altoona Pa.; her daughter-in-law, Donna; and her granddaughters, Melissa Myers, Tammy Thornsberry and Anne Bistline (Dan); and her grandson, Dustin Thornsberry in Indiana.

Fran also has 14 great grandchildren, Micheal, Amanda, TJ, Sierra, Tanner, Brieanne, Marc, Matthew, Samuel, Dora, Gabriel, Katie and Logan, plus four great-great grandchildren, all in Mountain Home, Idaho.

In the Altoona, Pa., area, Fran has a surviving brother-in-law, Bernard Faust, and six nieces, Linda, Barbara, Karen, Sharon, Debbie and Laurie.

She is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Thornsberry; her parents; her brother, Raymond; her sister, Janet; and the love of her life, Gene.

A viewing for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 8, at Rosenau Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 11, at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, 1207 12th Ave. #207 in Altoona, Pa.
