Local trails closed to public

Thursday, March 30, 2017

The Boise National Forest Mountain Home Ranger District closed two roads and trails near Featherville, citing public safety due to hazards associated with the Trinity Ridge Fire, which scorched the area in 2012.

Roads and trails along Trinity Creek (NFS Road 172) and Wagontown (NFS Road 183) continue to face ongoing hazards linked to storm damage as well debris washing into the travel corridor.

The order is expected to remain in effect until May 31 or until it's rescinded, whichever occurs first. To view the detailed description of the closure and map, go online to www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/boise/alerts-notices.

In addition, Forest Service officials encourage visitor to remain cautious, especially in areas stricken by previous range fires. With the Boise Basin blanketed with snow pack more than 135 percent of average this year, the conditions are leading to hazardous and muddy road and trail conditions due to spring runoff.
