William Taylor

William A. Taylor passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, of natural causes at home in Grand View. Bill, or "Coyote" as friends called him, was born July 13, 1956, at Travis AFB, Calif., to William and Alma Ileen Taylor.

The Taylor family moved back to Idaho in 1958 and lived in Shoshone. Bill's parents divorced, and Alma Ileen married Ray Gilbert on March 25, 1965, and blended their two families and settled in the Bruneau and Grand View areas.

Bill grew up working with his family on ranches and farms all around the valley and surrounding areas. When Bill was a senior in high school, he took a job in Paradise Valley and continued school, graduating from Glenns Ferry High School. After graduation, he moved home to Grand View and lived out his life.

Bill enjoyed working on old cars and pickups as a self-taught mechanic. Also working in the fall driving potato and sugar beet trucks.

Bill enjoyed living along the Snake River with his life partner, Fran Wegman. Bill's passions in life was fishing, hunting, and camping with all of his family and friends. When he was in good health he enjoyed trapping in the winter with his brother, Jody.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Misty Dawn Elam, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his sister, Patty and her husband, Warren Croucher; stepbrother Jody and his wife, Pam Gilbert; sister Cheryl Inskeep; stepbrother Nolan Gilbert; stepsisters Laura and Vicki Gilbert; sister Linda Beck; and sister Debra and her husband, Joe Ule. Bill also left behind numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Taylor; mother Alma Ileen Gilbert in 2014; his stepdad, Ray Gilbert in 2013; and his life partner, Fran Wegman in 2012.

There will be a Celebration of Life on April 8, 2017, with a potluck dinner (meat will be provided by the family) at the Grand View American Legion Hall. Everyone is invited.

Instead of cards and flowers, please donate to the Grand View Fire Department, Senior Citizens Center, Library, Lions Club or the American Legion Hall. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.
