Thomas Wesley Hill, 69, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away while battling cancer on Feb. 7, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise. Cremation is under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Tom was born Nov. 7, 1947, to Norman C. Hill and Gretchen (Grotz) Hill in Ottumwa, Iowa. After graduating from high school in 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.

He married his best friend, Mary Amos, in Ludlow, Mass., on Oct. 3, 1969. They spent the next 25 years exploring the world. During that time, their first son, Kenneth, was born at Barksdale AFB, La. Their second son, Christopher, was born while they were in Turkey.

Later, Tom's career brought his family to Mountain Home, where Tom retired from the Air Force in 1991. Tom then worked for the Mountain Home School District and Wal-Mart until retiring fully at the age of 62.

Tom loved trains and photography. His new pastime was teaching his grandson, Murphy, about trains, airplanes and photography. Tom's favorite joy was reading bedtime stories to Murphy. We all love him and will miss him very much.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mary; sons Kenneth Hill and Christopher and his wife, Jennifer Hill; sister Judith Rich; mother in law Mary Amos; and his grandchildren, Juniper, Murphy and Edmund. He was preceded in death by his parents.

No services will be held, but a summer celebration is being planned.
