Base to downsize installation's hospital

The drawdown of the maternity ward at the Mountain Home Air Force Base hospital is expected to shift those needs to the staff at St. Luke's Elmore Medical Center. That move is expected to affect people like Ann Donatelli, a registered nurse at the local hospital.

In-patient services expected to transfer to St. Luke's Elmore Medical Center

Some medical services at Mountain Home Air Force Base are expected to end in the near future with St. Luke's Elmore Medical Center standing ready to help maintain these health care services for military members and local veterans.

Currently under consideration is a plan that involves downsizing the base hospital by eliminating in-patient services, including its general surgery, maternity and in-patient hospital departments, according to Col. Andrew Moore, commander of the 366th Medical Group at the local military installation.
