Donna Mae Carter, 83, of Boise and formerly of Mountain Home, passed away of natural causes at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center on Jan. 26, 2017, at 1:13 p.m. with her daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughters by her side.

Donna was born Jan 13, 1934, in Bellingham, Wash., to George Thomas and Hazel Marie (Hickok) Blake. In 1952, she met the love of her life, James Thomas Carter Sr., who was stationed in Blaine, Wash. They were married on May 23, 1952.

Donna followed Tom through his 24 years in the Air Force. They finally settled in Mountain Home. Donna also had a career with Federal Civil Service, where she finally retired in 2008 after 40 years of excellent service.

Tom and Donna were always involved extensively with their family. The kids had horses when they were teenagers and were involved with rodeos. Jimmy was also involved in baseball that Tom coached and Donna cheered them on.

They always had a home for the kids and their families to come home to. They helped raise two of their grandkids and always stayed involved as they grew up. Tom and Donna always supported kids and grandkids to the extent that they could.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Penny Scott of Boise, and her son, James (Teresa) Carter of Alaska. She is also survived by grandchildren Robin (Jeremy) Cornmesser and their kids, Jakob, Heather, Ashlee, BobbiAnn, Hailey and Tyler of Boise, Idaho; Joshua (Tanya) Carter and their kids, Kayleigh and Taylor of Juneau, Alaska; Robert Carter and his kids, Dane and Stella of Anchorage, Alaska; Melissa Carter and her kids, Logen, Austin, Sierra and Raehana of Haughton, La.; and Jessica (Danny) McGee and their kids, Chasity, Whit, Jaylynn and Danica of Haughton, La. She is also survived by great-great grandchildren Blake, Rylee and Taiden. She is also survived by her sister, Joanne Litwiller of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, her parents and a son in law.
