Karen Lea Blurton, 74, of Mountain Home, returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on Dec. 29, 2016. Karen was born Jan. 16, 1942, in Hines, Ore., to parents Dorothy Audrey Zink Blurton and Victor Hugo Blurton.

Karen loved life and especially children. Although she never had any of her own, she made many families happy by caring for and being such an important part of their children's lives.

She loved her friends dearly as well as her own family. She loved to play cards, especially Pinochle, on holidays with her family and during get-togethers with friends. Weekly card playing and going out to lunch became her rituals with her very devoted friends.

Karen lost her father and a brother as an infant and was raised by her mother, step-father and loving grandparents.

Karen was a member of the LDS church in Mountain Home and had many dedicated and devoted friends that cared for her.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy A. Brown, father Victor Blurton, step-father Wayne F. Brown, brother Ronald Blurton and grandparents Edith and Vollie Zink as well as other special and close relatives.

She is survived by a special, devoted friend, Don Hanson, as well as many other friends and relatives, including her local family, Aunt Geri Covey; cousins Susan Covey Best (Bill) and Michael Covey (Jolene); and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by six siblings, Robert Brown (Gail) of Arizona, Wava Brown Tully (Joe) of Wyoming, Sheryl Brown McCulloch (David) of Wyoming, Patti Brown Ternovacz of California, Danny Brown (Karleen) of New Hampshire and Shauna Brown Chimielewski (Jerry) of Wisconsin.

Per Karen's wishes, a celebration of her life will be a gathering of family and friends on a warm, sunny day. Cremation was under the care of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.
