Andresa "Andy" Perez

Friday, December 9, 2016

Andresa "Andy" Perez (Monasterio) was born on April 19, 1917, in Mountain Home to Francisco and Emilia Monasterio (Lequerica). She graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1936 and attended beauty school in Boise.

She returned to Mountain Home after graduating from beautician school and began work as a hairdresser, ultimately owning her own salon. It was there that she met Pedro "Pete" Perez, a veteran of World War II, who had recently moved from Orland, Calif., to Mountain Home to work as a jeweler, watch repairman and manager for Rowett Jewelers.

They were married on Sept. 27, 1947. After starting a family, she worked as a hot lunch cook at East Elementary School until her retirement.

Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren. She would go to the ends of the Earth to help and encourage them in any way she could. Andy always seemed much younger than her years, which her family attributed, in part, to her raising three generations of children, including her sons Fred and Rob, her nieces Joyce Novotny (Monasterio) and Linda Monasterio and her grandchildren, Erin Acarregui (Perez) and Michael Perez.

Andy was a lifelong member of the Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Mountain Home and devout in her faith. She passed away just as she would have wanted it, with her two sons at her side.

A special thank you to the caregivers at Valley View Nursing Home, whom lovingly cared for her until the end.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Emilia, and her brothers, John, Lynn and Ricardo (Pete). She is survived by her husband, Pete; her sister, Inez Sexauer; her sons, Fred Perez and Rob Perez; her grandchildren, Erin Acarregui, Michael Perez, Rick Perez and Kimberly Perez; and her great grandchildren, Kyle Acarregui, Abigail Acarregui, and Kate Perez.

A Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home. The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, and burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home.
