Support for program was appreciated

Wednesday, August 31, 2016

Dear editor,

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul would like to thank the community for another successful year of the Summer Feeding Program Picnic in the Park. Almost 9,700 free lunches were served to hungry children in the Mountain Home community this summer.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture funds the cost of food and some employee labor, but this program could not take place without the support of many volunteers who helped serve the lunches and provided enriching learning activities for the children. There are too many volunteers to name, but you know who you are, and we thank you.

Thank you to the City of Mountain Home and Mountain Home Parks and Recreation for the use of Carl Miller Park and to the crew that kept the park immaculate. We would also like to thank Skyview Terrace Apartments for the use of their lovely facilities.

We are also grateful to our many partners across this community for providing enriching activities for the children.

Last, but not least, we would like to thank all of the families who participated in the Summer Feeding Program and the activities this year. We look forward to serving you again next year.
