Mountain Home Firefighter Topher Wallert shows five-year-old Aspen Wright the proper techniques needed to extinguish a fire during a demonstration held Saturday as part of the community's annual safety fair. Held in the parking lot of the local Wal-Mart, representatives from various emergency response teams held a number of hands-on demonstrations and other activities to promote safety and awareness. During the fire department demonstration, children like Wright sprayed water on a mock schoolhouse. In addition to launching water into each window, the last step involved ringing a bell in the structure's chimney.

Joe Keddie from the Elmore County Search and Rescue team explains to Zane, Mattea and Aidan Winters how the team uses its six-person County UTV vehicle during various rescue operations. Members of the county team showed off some of the equipment they use during normal operations while meeting with visitors during Saturday's safety fair.
