March 21, 1945 - Aug. 3, 2016

Bangon Svederus, formerly of Mountain Home, peacefully began her new journey on Aug. 3, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Bangon was born March 21, 1945, to Sai and Pun Seiwongpan in Ubon, Thailand. She was the oldest of two brothers, Piyong and Sumpone, and two sisters, Toy and Sacorn.

She grew up on land owned by her family. Her home was one room made of bamboo on stilts about 10 feet above ground. To get water, they had to walk about a mile with buckets on their shoulders. They grew their own crops and fished for their food.

Bangon's father passed when she was 16 years old. They could not afford schooling, so Bangon helped her mother sell fish at the market.

She then began working for a restaurant, Tatsu Mahan, where she met the love of her life, Donald C. Svederus. Donald was in the Air Force, as this was a time during the Vietnam War. They had fallen in love and were married in May 1971.

Bangon and Donald have three children, Donnie, Kim and Jennifer. While Donald served in the military, Bangon had the most important job in the entire world, being a homemaker. Her love for her children and grandchildren was very special. When any of us needed someone to run to with a warm hug, she was always there without question.

Bangon was the Matriarch of the family. She kept the peace and always reminded all of us how important it is to love family and take care of each other. Her guidance was always heartfelt, and always genuine.

One of Bangon's favorite pastimes was going to a casino. She absolutely loved playing slot machines. She enjoyed having fun and laughing with family and friends. Her beautiful smile could light up a room and be felt by your heart.

Bangon is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Nimfa Svederus; daughter, Kim Svederus; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and John Kelly; her in-laws, Julia and Luis Sanquirico; sister-in-law and her husband, Judy and Tom Stapleton; nephew and wife, Scott and Michelle Stapleton, and their children, Wyatt and Brooke; nephew Brett Stapleton and his children, Brayden and Dallen; and grandchildren Julia Martin, Georgie Svederus, Roxanna and Austin Kelly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Svederus; her mom and dad, Sai and Pun Seiwongpan; her father-in-law, William Svederus; and a nephew and godson, Michael Stapleton.

A private celebration of her life will be held at Ameristar, Blackhawk, Colo.
