Gilbert Francis "Gil' Hurley Jr. passed away peacefully at the age of 72. He lived in Mountain Home with his wife, Maxine of 52 years.

He was born in St. Stephens, New Brumswick, Canada. He went to grade school in Lubec, Maine, but moved to Wesley, Maine, where he continued his education.

Gil married Maxine (Smith) Hurley, and they lived in Somerville, Mass., before moving to North Easton, Mass., and upon retiring moved to Mountain Home.

They had four children, G. Scott Hurley, who passed in 1986; two daughters, Deanna Hurley Harris and her husband, Scott Harris; and Dana-Leigh Hurley DeJohn and her husband, Gerry DeJohn; and another son, Michael Anthony Hurley. He had six grandchildren that he adored, Thomas Louis Filosi and Ryleigh Elizabeth Filosi, Ashley Michelle Harris and Cameron Philip Harris and Logan Joseph Hurley and Mia Elizabeth Hurley. He had one great-grandson, Chance Alexander Filosi, and many nieces and nephews, whom he loves dearly.

Gil loved camping. He also loved listening to his country music and sitting on the front porch with his wife and their dog, Digs, to reminiscence about old times.

He has a brother, Jerry Hurley, and sister-in-law, Carol (Gay) Hurley, who are both doing well. He has two brothers in-law, John A. Smith and Royce D. Smith, who he thought of more as brothers than in-laws.

He is preceded in death by mother Winnoa (Hoar) Hurley and father Gilbert F. Hurley Sr. as well as two sisters, Joyce (Hurley) Smith of Maine and Gloria (Hurley) Pilcher of Ohio.

Per his request, no services will be held. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home, Idaho.
