Evelyn J. Maybon

Evelyn J. Maybon, 86 years of age, passed peacefully into eternal life on June 25, 2016, with her children by her side. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the American Legion Hall in Bruneau. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel, in Mountain Home.

Evelyn was born in Bruneau, to George Gifford and Alice Arendt Gifford. She lived most of her life in Bruneau and Mountain Home until she was an adult. She married Ernest Wilson in August 1946 in Elko, Nevada. From that union, Ernest and Evelyn had six children.

Evelyn had many opportunities to travel and lived in many places. One place she remembered fondly was her time in Brownlee, Oregon, when Ernest helped with the construction of the Brownlee and Oxbow Dams. Those were good times for Evelyn. She also lived in Tennessee, Arkansas, South Carolina, and England in her adult life. She spent the last 40 years in Mountain Home. She worked at the Food Hut, Safeway, Farmer Jack's, and eventually retired from Albertsons.

Evelyn volunteered for Neighborhood Watch and was very proud of her accomplishments there, as well as the friendships that developed with officers at the Mountain Home Police Department. She also volunteered for the Mountain Home Senior Center and loved her work and the people she served there.

More than anything else, Evelyn loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived for the times she could spend with her family and friends, and was definitely the happiest when she could be in the middle of the action. She also had many friends she considered family, and she will be sorely missed by all.

Evelyn is survived by her stepfather, Rex Kite of Mountain Home, two sisters, Ruthada Powell of Mountain Home and Margaret Bryson of Emmett, son, Leroy (Donna) Wilson of North Pole, Alaska, daughter, Lynn (Monte) Larsen of Mountain Home, son, Ed (Sandi) Wilson of Greenleaf, Idaho, and daughter, Judy (Wayne) Gossett of Mountain Home, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by two stepsisters, Charlotte and Vida, and one stepbrother, Delbert, all of Mountain Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ervin and Leo Gifford, and two beloved children, Robert Wilson and Patricia Elliott, who both passed in 2008.

We would like to thank Treasure Valley Hospice for their love and care during the last few weeks of Mom's life, as well as Evelyn's good friends and neighbors, Dean Grondin and Colleen Hannigan. We appreciate you and we know Mom did too.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mountain Home Senior Center in Evelyn's name.

We love you, Mom, and we will see each other again.
