Letter to the Editor

Thanks for Flag Day support

Wednesday, June 22, 2016

Dear editor,

The officers and members of American Legion Post 26 would like to thank all our community members and service organizations who helped us place flags on our fallen comrades' graves for our Memorial Day service at Mountain View Cemetery. We were elated to have so many volunteers, from the little children to the elderly, who came out to respect our fallen veterans who served their country.

Again, the community came forward five days later to help Post 26 serve lunch at Carl Miller Park for the annual Patriot Thunder rally. The members of the Lions Club, American Legion Post 101 and Auxiliary, Post 26 Auxiliary, American Legion Riders, the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts, the Defenders Association, the Mountain Home Optimist Group, the 366th Security Forces Squadron, community service workers and other volunteers helped.

This shows other people around the state that our community steps up and cares. Again, thank you one and all.

-- Tom Coester, commander, American Legion Post 26
