Cheryl was born in Idaho Falls on April 24, 1951. She was the second oldest of five children of George and Cora Fay Melgaard.

Cheryl grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1969. Soon after, she met Jerry Stevens and married in 1971. Their first child, Jenny, was born in 1973, and Jerry P. followed in 1976.

Jerry and Cheryl made their home in Mountain Home in 1981. They were both active members of the community and enjoyed the small town life.

Cheryl worked at the nursing home and hospital in housekeeping for 16 years. She was a very hard worker and was recognized by her employer and peers for her outstanding work ethic.

Cheryl was a loving and kind wife, mom, grandma, sister, daughter and friend. She made sure her children had all the opportunities she didn't have and that they had safe, fun fulfilling lives.

She enjoyed taking her kids to all their activities and school functions. She welcomed all their friends into her home and treated them like they were her own. She had unconditional love for her husband, kids, grandkids and pets.

Her journey for caring for others is over and will finally get to rest next to her husband, who she cared for in life and death.

Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Jenny and her husband, Jason; her son, Jerry and his wife, Christina; her nine grandchildren, Rein, Silas, Echo, Kadia, Skye, Trina, Sage, Anthony and Rue; her sisters, Debbie West and Patty Janney; her brother, Jeff Melgaard; and several others she was like a mother to. They will all miss her and remember her fondly.
