Glenns Ferry students place at state meet
One Glenns Ferry High School student earned a medal while another placed during this year's state-level track and field tournament at Middleton High School.
Erick Ballesteros and Sage Wootan earned seats at the state finals following their award-winning performance at this year's district tournament, said Gerry Hildreth, who coaches the high school team.
Ballesteros finished with a silver medal in the boys long jump with an official jump of 21 feet, 3.25 inches. Wootan got into the finals in the girls 400-meter and placed eighth overall.
During the recent district meet, Ballesteros took first place at district in the boys long jump by spanning a distance of 21 feet, 5.5 inches. He also finished second in the boys 100-meter and fourth in the boys' triple jump and fifth in the 200-meter.
During the girls' competition at the district tournament, Wootan placed third in the 400-meter race.
