Two students from Glenns Ferry High School represented the school's track and field team at they competed in this year's state-level tournament.

Erick Ballesteros and Sage Wootan earned seats at the state finals following their award-winning performance at this year's district-level tournament.

Ballesteros took first place at district in the boys long jump by spanning a distance of 21 feet, 5.5 inches. He also finished second in the boys 100-meter and fourth in the boys' triple jump.

While he was fifth in the 200-meter, the time Ballesteros posted was still fast enough to advance him to the state meet, said Gerry Hildreth, who coaches the high school team. During the girls' competition at district, Wootan placed third in the 400-meter.

The state 1A meet began Friday morning at Middleton High School.
