Clair "Denny" Densley, age 80 of Mountain Home, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016, at the Cottages of Mountain Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at St. James Episcopal Church in Mountain Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

Denny was born March 20, 1936, to Clarence and Edna Densley in Auburn, N.Y. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps after high school graduation and served four years -- he was forever a proud Marine.

He attended the University of New York City-Plattsburgh and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. He missed the military and joined the U.S. Air Force.

Denny earned a Master's Degree in Education while serving in the Air Force. He served two years overseas during the Vietnam War and retired at Mountain Home Air Force Base in 1980 after a two-year tour in the Philippine Islands.

After retirement, he taught at Glenns Ferry Elementary School, mostly as a Reading Specialist, retiring from teaching in 2000. He has four sons from a previous marriage.

Denny met his wife, "Mickey" while serving the Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Mont. They married in Omaha, Neb., in 1975.

Ice skating, backpacking, cycling, Nordic skiing and sailing his 14-foot Hobie Cat Sailboat were important activities in their lives. His love of history led to his travels in Korea, Japan, Israel, Great Britain and parts of Europe plus many U.S. states.

Denny was a life member of the Marine Corps League, member of the Military Officers of American, Idaho Educators of America. He was active in the Episcopal Church and loved serving God and his country. He will be remembered by his quiet and sincere personality.

Denny is survived by his wife, Mickey; his sister, Linda; four sons, Scott (Elaine), Brian (Julie), Michael (Amber) and Eric; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Judy.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations in Denny's memory be sent to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Cottage of Mountain Home for their loving care.
