Nielsen sentenced for wildlife violation

State lawmaker Pete Nielsen had his hunting license suspended for one year and was ordered to pay civil penalties and other fines during a hearing at the Elmore County Courthouse Tuesday afternoon.

Nielsen, who represents Mountain Home and surrounding communities, pled guilty to a single count of unlawfully possessing a spike elk with an anterless tag.

The incident occurred Dec. 29, 2015, in the vicinity of Mayfield and Ditto Creek roads northwest of Mountain Home. More information on the sentencing hearing will appear in the May 25 edition of the Mountain Home News.
