Sealcoat operations begin Monday on Highway 51

Crews with the Idaho Transportation Department begin work on Monday to maintain the pavement on Highway 51 south of Mountain Home.

Crews will place an asphalt sealcoat on a stretch of highway between the junction at Airbase Road and the Snake River Bridge at milepost 77.

Work will happen during daytime hours with the speed limit in the construction zone reduced to 35 miles per hour, and ITD reminds motorists to slow down, pay attention and give themselves extra time when driving on this road. Pilot cars will guide drivers through the area.

During the project, drivers should expect brief delays, ITD officials said. Crews are expected to finish the $560,000 project in late May.
