For most of the last decade, members of a youth soccer club had sought a win as they competed in the Canyon Rim Classic soccer tournament.

During this year's tournament in Twin Falls, the under-14 club finally did what it hadn't seen in the last seven years -- earn a medal.

The tournament held the last weekend in April started out with Mountain Home beating the Boise's Idaho Rush Premier team, 4-1. During their second game, Mountain Home played to a 2-2 draw against the Arsenal Pumas, which put them into the semifinal game.

In that game, Mountain Home won a tough match against the Boise Nationals during a shootout, putting them into the finals. They then faced a tough Twin Falls Rapids team, who posted a 4-0 win.

"Despite the outcome of the championship game, we are excited that we placed second in a tournament of nine teams," said Eric Abrego, one of coaches for the boys team.

The coach added the efforts of the entire team represented a great accomplishment for everyone involved in the Mountain Home soccer club.
