Extension office provides water-wise lawn advice

Xeriscaping techniques allow people in communities across southern Idaho to maintain quality landscapes while conserving water.

With backyard gardeners continuing to spruce up their yards and gardens as the spring weather continues, the Elmore County Extension office outlined ways that people can keep things green while using less water.

A typical household uses 260 gallons of water per day, but people in this state use almost 60 percent of that water to irrigate their landscapes, said Mir Seyedbagheri, University of Idaho extension educator.
