Sixth grade students graduate from D.A.R.E. program

"There are 75,000 alcohol-related deaths each year in the U.S.," Emily Harper told her fellow students as well as parents that gathered at Hacker Middle School during this year's Drug Abuse Resistance Education, or D.A.R.E. program last week. Nearly 320 sixth graders received certificates following their completion in the program.

Following weeks of lessons focused on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and the risks associated with using tobacco, sixth grade students from Hacker Middle School completed their participation in the program April 26.

The graduation ceremony recognized nearly 320 students that participated in the local Drug Abuse Resistance Education, or D.A.R.E., program.
