Tennis team faces Knights, Hawks

One player picked up a win while the others on Mountain Home High School's tennis team found the going tough as they faced teams from Bishop Kelly and Skyview last week.

For the second time this season, the Tigers were blanked by the Knights during a game April 19.

In boys' singles play, Nathan Gibbons lost, 0-6, 0-6; Miguel Pelletier lost, 2-6, 1-6; while Alex Buchholz went down, 1-6, 1-6. In boys' doubles, Abram Martin and Jean Gilliland lost, 0-6, 0-6; while Abrahan Salas and Davis Parrett lost, 3-6, 2-6.

In mix doubles action that afternoon, the teams of Brandon Hultenius and Mady McCurdy and Parker Noyce and Jessica Noyce were blanked, 0-6, 0-6. In girls' singles, Rebecca Martin lost, 0-6, 0-6; Caitlyn Whitfield lost, 0-6, 1-6; while Simone Aguero went down, 0-6, 0-6.

Despite having home field advantage, the Mountain Home Tigers found the competition tough on Thursday as they hosted the Skyview Hawks.

In boys' singles, Nathan Gibbons lost a tough match, 4-6, 3-6; and Miguel Pelletier dropped another close one, 3-6, 6-7; while the third match was defaulted officially by the Hawks to give the Tigers a win. A pickup match was played with Alex Buchholz losing, 0-6, 0-6.

In boys' doubles, Abram Martin and Jean Gilliland lost, 2-6, 2-6; while Abrahan Salas and David Parrett lost, 1-6, 2-6. In mix doubles, Brandon Hultenius and Mady McCurdy lost, 0-6, 0-6; with the second mix match defaulted due to player unavailability by the Tigers.

In girls' singles, Rebecca Martin lost, 0-6, 0-6; Cass McLean fell, 0-6, 0-6; while Emily Hensley went down, 0-6, 0-6. In girls' doubles, Nisa Phelps and Natalie Moyett were blanked, 0-6, 0-6; while Krystalynn Raab and Rhyan Kelley went down, 1-6, 0-6.

This week, the Tigers hosted the Kuna Kavemen on Tuesday at the city courts at Richard Aguirre Park. They travel to Caldwell on Thursday, April 27, to face the Cougars.
