Local residents get gouged at pump

Wednesday, April 6, 2016

Dear editor,

We're right back at it!

After a period of time, our memory seems to slip. Not all that many months ago, a investigation had proven our local fuel stations had been gouging compared to everyone in surrounding communities.

Well Mountain Homies, here we go again. While traveling this past weekend, I soon discovered a fairly big disparity in Diesel.

I paid $2.33 at the Pilot, and the Chevron across the street was showing $2.38. Driving north, I paid $2.15 in Cascade, and the further from here the cheaper it got -- as low as $2.05.

I fail to understand how within 300 miles of Mountain Home, fuel is found 33 cents per gallon less. Nowhere did I go was it more per gallon than here.

Did our local fuel vendors decide we must again return to our old ways because no one will notice, and if they do why should we care? I'm not sure what necessitates one group of people feeling the need to take advantage of another group for financial/personal gain. I am so disappointed in our local businesses telling us to shop local.

How about giving us a reason to buy local.
