Track & field team places during meet at Bishop Kelly

Mountain Home's track and field team found the competition tough but the Tigers saw some improvement on the season as they competed against Bishop Kelly and Kuna on Friday.

The Knights dominated the competition in the men's and women's events with the Kavemen a distant second with the Tigers finishing third overall.

In the women's events, Bishop Kelly finished the afternoon with 126 points. Kuna earned 37 while Mountain Home received 22. At the same time, the five Lady Tigers continued to post personal bests on Friday after they earned seats at this year's district meet.

Freshman Emalee Pippin joined the list of district qualifiers last week following her performance in the triple jump. On Friday, she qualified in the long jump and the pole vault.

Junior Ariel Higgins improved on both her qualifying marks in the shot and discus while placing second in both with personal bests. Rachel Johnson also finished second while improving on her time in the 300-meter intermediate high hurdles.

Keyondra White post a personal best on her distances in the long and triple jumps and was fourth in the 200-meter and 100-meter. Alexis Georgianna cut her overall time in the 3,200-meter by 15 seconds, placing second for the second week in a row.

Rachel Johnson also had a second-place finish in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles and was third in the high jump. Girls with personal bests Friday were Asia Jackson in the 400-meter, Mackenzie Sloane in the 800-meter, Anna Cook in the 100-meter high hurdles, Sage Winings in the shot put and discus throw and Gabrielle Chavez and Kennedy Clark in the shot put.

In the men's events, Bishop Kelly led the pack with 139 points. Kuna finished with 48 while Mountain Home earned 17.

During individual events that afternoon, Will Weygint placed second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a personal best time of 46.79 seconds. His brother, Conner Weygint placed fourth at 49.60.

For the second straight week, Anthony DeSantis placed third in the 3,200-meter at 10:57.49, dropping his season best by almost 22 seconds. Walker Harris was third in the 1,600-meter at 5:05.03.

Dominique Morris had a personal best time in the 100-meter at 12.46, placing fourth. Also finishing fourth place were Ramon Gonzalez in the 400-meter at 57.81 and Michael Boguslawski in the 110-meter high hurdles at 19.00.

The only relay to place Friday was the 4x100-meter relay team of Brad Keierleber, Mitch Aguirre, Jaden and Bryson Wright, who finished at 47.82.

Other Tiger boys earning personal bests on the day were Bryson Wright in the 100- and 200-meter runs, Magnus Swanson in the 400-meter, Hank Parrett in the 800- and 1,600-meter, Brandon Beach in the shot put, Hayden Keirleber in the shot put and discus throw and Patrick Harris, Austin Tetrault and Miguel Fuentes in the discus throw.

The Tigers' next meet is scheduled for April 6 when it takes on Canyon Ridge.
