Digging into archeology

Tuesday, March 22, 2016

Paden Winings and Kendall Brenenstahl from Erika Smith's sixth grade classroom at Hacker Middle School chip away at clay blocks containing archeological artifacts as part of an in-class project on Thursday. Students in three classrooms used picks, brushes and water to remove the clay surrounding miniature depictions of Terracotta Warriors and Horses discovered around the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. The project gave the students a look at the type of work involved in archeological digs and coincided with a classroom discussion on the archeological site.
