New water district plans continue moving forward

The Idaho Department of Water Resources issued a preliminary order, creating a new ground water district in the Mountain Home area. Officials expect to finalize the order in April or May. The creation of the district will require water rights holders to eventually purchase and install measuring devices on their wells. However, that plan is expected to be phased in over the next several years depending on the scope of the final order.

The Idaho Department of Water Resources moved one step closer to creating a new ground water district in the Mountain Home area.

With the issuance of a preliminary order on March 2, local ground water users could see finalized plans that will eventually require more than 400 water rights holders to install meters on their wells.
