1962-2016

Dennis Howard Cockerham, 53, of Glenns Ferry, Idaho, passed away on February 7, 2016 after being flown to a SLC, UT hospital and undergoing cardiac care.

Dennis was born October 10, 1962 in Concord, CA to Clyde and Joyce Cockerham; the youngest of four children. Soon after, the Cockerham family moved to Olympia, WA. They enjoyed their land with its orchards, animals, and streams. It was a special place for the kids to learn and explore. They later moved to Fairfield, Idaho.

In school Dennis was a cowboy, riding for the Association and working on ranches. He enjoyed dirt bikes and played football and baseball well. Dennis met Christie Micknak from McCall, ID when he lived there briefly in high school. The two soon fell in love.

In 1980, at 17, Dennis graduated in Gooding, and Christie in McCall. They married each other in 1981 and then attended the College of Southern Idaho together.

Dennis started his first business at 19 and soon after was a deputy, and a police officer in Cascade. Dennis & Christie had also lived in McCall, Pismo Beach, Gooding, Boise, etc. They both knew the Lord Jesus as their Savior.

The two shared their faith, beliefs, and many special times together out exploring, hiking, fishing, hunting, boating, jet skiing, riding motorbikes and camping. Married 34 years, Dennis & Christie shared many things besides their love.

While in college, and when he gained his apprenticeship in McCall, Dennis learned Refrigeration; HVAC; Restaurant Equip and Commercial/Residential Appliance Repair. He utilized his trade skills for decades, in thousands of homes & businesses, diagnosing and repairing machines we rely on daily. Dennis did this while employed by companies such as Capitol Refrigeration, Summit, Maytag, and Sun Valley Co. And also as a business owner himself, with Denny's Appliance Repair, and DC Repair. Denny appreciated the wonders of God's creation while out fishing, kayak-touring, hunting, golfing, exploring with friends. And with D&C's family members and 14 nieces/nephews, and Denny's older brother Mickey.

Dennis & Mickey and everyone, also enjoyed their time outdoors at the bird hunting preserve near Shoshone, which Mickey still owns today. There were good times for everyone while bird hunting, dog handling, trap shooting, guiding. It was a special place for Dennis and he made good friends there.

Dennis will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his beloved wife Christie; his brother Mickey Cockerham (& Andrea) of Gooding; sister Paula Cockerham (& Gary) of Glenns Ferry; sister Tanya Morrison (& Shawn) of Carson City. Dennis was preceded in passing by his father Clyde Cockerham Jr. and mother Joyce (Ahlshlager) BenHayon.

Dennis' family would like to thank everyone for their tremendous outpouring of love and support. A Celebration of Life gathering will begin at 1:00 Saturday, March 26 at Western Spirit Ranches Preserve lodge, Shoshone, ID.
