Patricia Ruth (Pat) Battle, 81, passed away peacefully on Nov. 20, 2015 at her home in Mountain Home from renal cancer.

Pat was born in Watsonville, Calif. She graduated from Campbell High School in 1952 and from San Jose State University in 1956 with a BS in Aeronautics. She was a member of Alpha Eta Rho (AHP), the national aeronautics fraternity, and she was the first woman to serve as an AHP Chapter President.

Pat married Martin Patrick (Pat) Battle in 1957 and lived in San Jose, Calif., and Scottsdale, Ariz. Pat worked as a travel agent for many years and particularly enjoyed the people she worked with and the many opportunities she had to travel.

Pat moved on from her marriage in 1987 when she became part of her daughter Tamara's family. Pat helped raise her grandson, Chris, while Tamara and her husband, Mike, served in the Air Force.

Pat very much enjoyed becoming part of the Air Force family. She was active in spouse's club activities and served as her daughter and son-in-law's "official hostess."

Pat enjoyed travel, reading, sewing and quilting, knitting and miniature needlepoint. She was an active member of the Pioneer Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a founding member of the Purple Gems Chapter of the Red Hats Society.

Pat is survived by her three sons, Michael, Dennis and Scott Battle, who reside in Arizona; her daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Michael Mackenthun; and grandson, Christopher Mackenthun, who reside in Mountain Home.

Pat's memorial service will be held at her home, 12150 East Highway 20 in Mountain Home, on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at 2 p.m. Cremation was under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Pat's name to the Daughters of the American Revolution (c/o Cheri Ruch, 4400 W Camas St., Boise ID 83705-5827) or to the Caring Voice Coalition (8249 Meadowbridge Rd., Mechanicsville, VA).

Pat's family especially thanks the members of Treasure Valley Hospice who helped care for her during her final days.
