A state lawmaker representing Mountain Home and surrounding communities entered a plea of not guilty to a fish and game violation during his arraignment in district court Wednesday morning.

Pete Nielsen was charged with a single count of unlawfully possessing a spike elk with an anterless tag.

Appearing before Magistrate George Hicks, a not-guilty plea was entered by the court on his behalf.

The alleged incident occurred Dec. 29 in the vicinity of Mayfield and Ditto Creek roads northwest of Mountain Home, according to information obtained by the Mountain Home News. Additional details were not immediately known.

Nielsen, who has been with the state house of representatives for seven terms, is due to stand trial on the violation the morning of April 12.
